If you’ve been scrolling social media lately, chances are you’ve stumbled upon the latest beauty trend: Head spas.
The service, popularized and super common in Japan, has now gone viral in the U.S. — and for good reason. Typically featuring a scalp analysis, deep cleanse, waterfall rinse, and massage, a head spa session is meant to detox and rejuvenate your head — much like a facial would your skin. And bonus: All that pampering can have amazing benefits, like stronger hair follicles, improved blood flow and reduced tension. (Headaches, be gone!)

The C Room Nails & Spa

In addition to nail, lash, skincare, and waxing services, this No Libs salon offers a Thai shampoo treatment — it combines a Thai head and neck massage using calming products — and two durations of “head therapy,” which incorporate a mask, steam, soak and massage.

Head to this woman-owned biz in the Northeast for a head spa with the works: a circulation frame for constant hair watering, scalp comb/gua sha tool, steam, shampoo, and massage.
Crown & Cranium
27 Maple Avenue, suite 4, Marlton
This Marlton-based boutique is dedicated to the head spa experience. You can choose from two hair baths: the 30-minute Soul Refresh, which includes a luxe wash and face/scalp/neck massage; and the 60-minute Soul Soothe with additions like heated oils and a steam cap. There are also head spa/facial combos on offer.
CURE de Repos
8439 Germantown Avenue, Chestnut Hill
CURE’s Chestnut Hill location has an Ayurvedic head spa on the service menu. You’ll get a wash, detox treatment, scalp massage, and towel dry, plus an eye treatment and hair mask if you upgrade. (Note: This is not available at CURE’s Ardmore outpost.)
Gezellig Salon

As primarily a hair salon, Gezellig knows a thing or two about your noggin. All their head spa offerings — they have 15-, 20-, 30-, 45-, and 60-minute durations — include a scalp scrub and massage complemented with aromatherapy as you rest comfortably in a heated bed.
Gina Maria’s Holistic Hair and Healing

Venture to this Bucks County studio for various head spa packages. There’s a 40-minute sesh for folks pressed for time, or, if you’re looking for an immersive treatment, opt for the two-hour Tranquil Escape, which includes Reiki and a foot massage. Hair Haven Studio

Book Hair Haven’s Relax & Rejuvenate treatment for a scalp massage that utilizes a gua-sha comb and rosemary or lavender oil, followed by a shampoo, hair mask, hydrating serum, and blowout. You can add on a cut, or bring a friend for a duo service. Note: Starting July 1st, the owners of Hair Haven will work out of Vibe Beauty Studio in Penndel.

As the name indicates, this Delco biz is totally dedicated to head spa. There are two different treatments, both of which can be upgraded with a blowout. The signature includes a scalp analysis and detox service, mini facial, double hair bath, upper body massage, and conditioning treatment, while the platinum option boasts all of that plus scalp-stimulating tools, a hair mask and waterfall treatment. Bonus: There’s a service specifically designed for men.
Maximum Head Spa and Salon

Maximum Head Spa and Salon has three scalp-centric treatments on offer, including two that boast the works. (For those new to head spa, opt for the 30-minute hair care and scalp consult.) Bonus: It’s also a full-service hair salon, with cuts, color, blowouts and styling offerings.
Mellow Head Spa and Wellness

Choose from three head spa services at Mellow: one targeting more oily hair, another for upping moisture, and the third meant to thicken and retain length. All can be enjoyed in 60 or 90 minutes and feature techniques like massage, gua sha combing, a steam mist, and a hair bath.

Located in the suites above hair extension business Mane Techniques, Petite Retreat offers traditional head spa services, from an express treatment to a session designed specifically for those healing from surgery or a medical treatment. Here, also find Reiki, infrared red-light therapy, and non-invasive face lifts.
Pure Joy Head Spa

In Warminster, Pure Joy Head Spa offers four different treatments — from the 45-minute Hair Conservation Spa with a shampooing and massage to the 90-minute Herbal Mist Fumigation Spa, meant to detox and deep-clean your scalp with tools like mixed herbs, a scalp comb, and a waterfall.
